WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT

Love

4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8Love never fails.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8

22 Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. 23 They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

Lamentations 3:22-23

Refuge

9 Do not hide your face from me, do not turn your servant away in anger; You have been my helper. Do not reject me or forsake me, O God my Saviour. 10 Though my father and mother forsake me, the LORD will receive me.

Psalm 27: 9, 10

19 Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and He saved them from their distress. 20 He sent forth His word and healed them; He rescued them from the grave.

Psalm 107:19-20

14 But You, O God, do see trouble and grief; You consider it to take it in hand. The victim commits himself to You; You are the helper of the fatherless. 17 You hear, O LORD, the desire of the afflicted; You encourage them, and You listen to their cry,

Psalm 10:14 & 17

1 I love you, O LORD, my strength. 2 The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. 3 I call to the LORD, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies. 16 He reached down from on high and took hold of me; He drew me out of deep waters. 17 He rescued me from my powerful enemy, from my foes, who were too strong for me. 18 They confronted me in the day of my disaster, but the LORD was my support. 19 He brought me out into a spacious place; He rescued me because He delighted in me.

Psalm 18:1-3,16-19

Ever Present Support

16And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counsellor to be with you forever - 17the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you know Him, for He lives with you and will be in you. 18I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.

John 14:16-18

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."

Hebrews 13:5

Healing

The LORD is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

Psalm 34:18

He heals the broken-hearted and binds up their wounds.

Psalm 147-3

My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

Psalm 73:26

Surely, He took up our pain and bore our suffering

Isaiah 53:4

Actions

13 Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise. 14 Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. 16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

James 5:13-16

I sought the LORD, and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears.

Psalm 34: 4

Justice

Vengeance is Mine, and recompense; their foot shall slip in due time; for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things to come hasten upon them.

Deuteronomy 32:35

17 Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. 18 If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. 19 Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.

Romans 12:17-19

5But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God's wrath, when His righteous judgment will be revealed. 6God "will give to each person according to what he has done." 7To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honour and immortality, He will give eternal life. 8But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger. 9There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile; 10but glory, honour and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. 11For God does not show favouritism.

Romans 2:5-11

Purpose

1The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, 2to proclaim the year of the LORD's favour and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, 3and provide for those who grieve in Zion - to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of His splendour.
